Divine Inspiration

Updated: Jun 6, 2020

Today, my friend, I want to talk about Divine Inspiration and how it settles upon us from places we never expected it and how sometimes it might take years for the true meaning to 'hit' us. Right now I'm thinking of a song written by Joni Mitchell called Both Sides Now. I always liked the song and thought it had a powerful message. When I first started to work through the issues that I brought with me on my journey through the 'halls of my after Earth life' I guess you might say I had an epiphany and this song, I remember, spoke volumes to me of how I really had been. I wonder if Joni knew back then how much she was connecting to a part of her that knew her better than she knew herself, who was talking to her in her 'quiet time' alone, drawing out all that she was learning about herself that connects her to the millions of others like her.

"Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels

The dizzy dancing way you feel

As every fairy tale comes real

I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show

You leave 'em laughing when you go

And if you care, don't let them know

Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now

From give and take, and still somehow

It's love's illusions I recall

I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud

To say "I love you" right out loud

Dreams and schemes and circus crowds

I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange

They shake their heads, they say I've changed

Well something's lost, but something's gained

In living every day

I've looked at life from both sides now

From win and lose and still somehow

It's life's illusions I recall

I really don't know life at all

I've looked at life from both sides now

From up and down and still somehow

It's life's illusions I recall

I really don't know life at all "

The truth was...I didn't know life at all. I had extreme wealth & fame, popularity as they called it in my day, but did I know love, no, not at all. Did I know life? No, I know the difference now and I intend to be true to the essence of who Elvis Presley really is, now! Another occasion where someone was strumming my pain with their fingers, singing my life with their song. I became aware that I, too, needed to look at everything from 'both sides' and from every aspect.
